FileCatalyst® Webmail

FileCatalyst® Webmail allows end users to send files of any size to anywhere in the world, using only the recipient's email address. Webmail is a fully integrated application that combines ease of use and utilizes the FileCatalyst technology to accelerate files to achieve faster transfer speeds.

Transferring large files on poor-performing intercontinental networks can be a frustrating process. To further complicate the issue, traditional applications such as email and FTP fall short on transferring large files. FileCatalyst Webmail alleviates the burden on corporate email infrastructure and replaces a tangled mess of internal and external FTP servers, public folders, and file servers in your corporation. The system offers an effortless method for end users to transfer files faster than ever before.

FileCatalyst's patent-pending acceleration technology is largely immune to network impairments, and minimizes data that is sent over the network. It provides optimal use of available bandwidth.

FileCatalyst® Webmail is packaged in two editions: Webmail Enterprise and Webmail Standard. Webmail Standard offers the core functionality of transferring large files, but has no built-in acceleration. Instead the file transfers are achieved using regular FTP/Https connections. The Enterprise edition of Webmail supports FileCatalyst acceleration technology to make file transfers faster. Other key features supported are LDAP/Active Directory, enhanced user-groups, support for multiple server locations and enhanced tracking//audit trailing.
Enterprise Wide Solution

FileCatalyst Webmail is a complete web-based file transfer solution. It lets end-users share large files (regardless of file size) with each other without having to worry about mail server restrictions or cumbersome FTP accounts. With more than 750 satisfied customers, the company’s software-based approach provides rapid deployment, maximum security, and minimal maintenance.

One of the most avid users of FileCatalyst Webmail is PPL Corporation, a Fortune 500 Utility company with international operations servicing US, UK and South America. PPL's main goal was to remove the complexity of transferring large files for its employees. Using Webmail, PPL is able to send 2-5 gigabytes of files per day through the system. The cost savings has resulted in a ROI in less than 1 year.

"FileCatalyst Webmail offers a streamlined interface to transfer files online without burdening our corporate email servers. It's a powerful solution that fits our needs perfectly."
Chris Carter, Director of Enterprise Technical Services at PPL.
Web-based Approach

Being a truly web-based file transfer system, allows FileCatalyst Webmail to be deployed in any scenario. No additional software is installed from the sender's point of view. Only a web browser is needed to logon to the FileCatalyst Webmail portal. From there the sender identifies the recipient's email address and uploads the files. The recipient gets an email with an embedded URL. The URL is used to download the file using the web-browser.

Global Usage

The minimal requirements mean FileCatalyst Webmail can be used anywhere globally to send and receive files. FileCatalyst Webmail client can be on Windows, Macs, Linux or any other operating system - the end user's experience is platform independent. The system also supports multiple file storage locations. This is advantageous for a large enterprise that wants to cater to "regional locales" such as the Americas, EMEA and APAC.

Enhanced Security

The enhanced security offered by FileCatalyst Webmail such as industry-level encryption, password protection, LDAP/Active Directory account management, enhanced email authentication and complete auditing help to address the various mandates used in the industry. These mandates include the GLB Act and HIPAA.

Reliable Delivery

Most email servers are configured to bounce emails with file attachments exceeding a certain size. Using FileCatalyst Webmail, large attachments are sent as links in the email, eliminating the possibility of bounced mails. This guarantees that—regardless of the server settings—files always get to the recipient. The underlying FileCatalyst technology allows files to be transferred reliably through even the harshest of network conditions.
